Priyanka Chopra has revealed yet another story of the seamier side of working in Bollywood from what is clearly a fund of such stories. Speaking to The Zoe Report, Priyanka revealed that she once quit a Hindi film after the director said that he wanted to see her in underwear in a particularly scene. Priyanka described the experience as “dehumanizing” and said that she paid the production house back after two days working on the film in question. She didn't name the director or the film but did say it happened in either 2002 or 2003 – at the time she was making her debut as an actress.
Priyanka told The Zoe Report: “I'm undercover, I'm seducing the guy — obviously that's what girls do when they're undercover. But I'm seducing the guy and you have to take off one piece of clothing [at a time]. I wanted to layer up. The filmmaker was like, No, I need to see her underwear. Otherwise, why is anybody coming to watch this movie?”
The director made the comment to her stylist who was present, Priyanka Chopra revealed. "He didn't say it to me. He said it to the stylist in front of me. It was such a dehumanizing moment. It was a feeling of, I'm nothing else outside of how I can be used, my art is not important, what I contribute is not important.”
On her father's advice, Priyanka Chopra left the project after two days and paid back what the production house had spent on her. “I just couldn't look at him every day,” she said about the director.
In March, Priyanka Chopra opened a can of worms by giving podcast host Dax Shepard an honest answer when he asked her why she had left Bollywood. “I was being pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood). I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break," the actress said on Armchair Expert.
Priyanka was last seen in Citadel and Love Again. She will, however, make a comeback in Bollywood with Farhan Akhtar's Jee Le Zaraa.
